July 31, 2026 · Class Action Filed
A proposed class action filed July 31 alleges Amazon sold Orgain Organic
Vegan Protein without disclosing alleged heavy metals. The complaint's own
testing table reports levels as high as 37.1 ppb lead, 87.9 ppb cadmium and
18.8 ppb arsenic.
What consumers should know:
This is a pending civil lawsuit, not a product recall. The allegations
are unproven, and Orgain says its products meet applicable food-safety
standards.

Legislative Breaking News
Senator Padilla introduces groundbreaking legislation requiring protein manufacturers to test every batch for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury — and publish results publicly. Products that don't comply would be banned from California. 70% of tested brands would be affected.
Key Impact: Premier Protein, Orgain, Garden of Life, Naked Nutrition, and 16 other brands would require public disclosure. MuscleTech (0.0 lead) would be exempt.
